Future Ready – West Sacramento Early College Prep Pilot Course

May 31, 2014 by David Abramson Leave a Comment

Normally my day job has me sitting at my desk, helping organizations and small businesses with their online visibility, but thanks to my good friend Ian Winbrock and everyone at Mayor Cabaldon’s office and the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce I had the pleasure of teaching students at West Sacramento Early College Prep School (WSECP) a bit about working as web professional. Get Your Business Online West Sacramento Recap

March 29, 2014 by David Abramson Leave a Comment

I just got back from a day-long workshop in West Sacramento where business owners who don’t have a website are given a free website to get them started in having an online presence. It was a great event with lots of helping hands and people excited to get online.

I gave a presentation called “Ok my business is online. Now what?” to give business owners a glimpse into what they can do to make themselves visible online after they get their website and how to convert their site visitors into new and returning customers. Check it out! I should have the full video as well sometime in the near future. [Read more…]

Does bold text help SEO?

December 19, 2013 by David Abramson Leave a Comment

I saw this question on a forum in an internet marketing think tank that I help moderate on Facebook.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether there is benefit to underlining or bolding keywords in a post to help with on page SEO? I don’t like how it looks visually but wonder if doing so gives content more of that “google juice”.

This video by Matt Cutts hints at an answer [Read more…]

Choose Quality over Quantity for your Website Content

October 29, 2013 by David Abramson Leave a Comment

Saw this video featuring Matt Cutts on an article at Search Engine Journal today.

He’s letting webmasters know that more pages on your website does not equal higher ranking on Google and advises against creating more pages with that goal in mind.

People won’t like you more because you talk whether you have something to say or not, so why should Google like you more for having more pages? They’ve been telling webmasters to focus on writing quality content that’s useful and interesting to people for years. Think about your website users and what they are interested in and want to see. Keep in mind what search engines are looking for, but write for people always.

How to copy a post from Word to WordPress without formatting errors

October 7, 2013 by David Abramson Leave a Comment

Some of you might like to create your posts offline using Microsoft Word or another program before putting them online on your WordPress blog. That’s totally okay, this post is to help you do that without creating formatting issues on your WordPress posts that would happen if you were to just copy and paste the content from Word into the WordPress editor directly.

In short, don’t just copy and paste from Word to WordPress.  [Read more…]
