Saw this video featuring Matt Cutts on an article at Search Engine Journal today.
He’s letting webmasters know that more pages on your website does not equal higher ranking on Google and advises against creating more pages with that goal in mind.
People won’t like you more because you talk whether you have something to say or not, so why should Google like you more for having more pages? They’ve been telling webmasters to focus on writing quality content that’s useful and interesting to people for years. Think about your website users and what they are interested in and want to see. Keep in mind what search engines are looking for, but write for people always.
